4) Day Trip of world heritage sites in Delhi
This is the best suited day trip in Delhi if you are architecture than this tour is for you. Three Important UNESCO World Heritage sites are in Delhi which are located in 3 different parts of Delhi. All these 3 sites are mostly from the Mughal times and are the most popular monuments in Delhi. Red Fort is the first UNESCO site in Delhi in our list, this massive red sandstone fortress in Delhi was built by Shah Jahan in the 17th Century on the bank of river Yammuna, it worked as a fort and palace for Mughal Emperor for the next two centuries.
Second on the list is Qutub Minar situated on the southern outskirts of Delhi. At a height of 72.5 meters Qutub Minar is regarded as the tallest minaret in the world built of bricks, Present Qutub Minar which has five storeys and it was built by three muslim rulers in different time. Qutub-ud-Din Aibak started its construction in 1192 but only completed the basement, then his successor Iltutmish later constructed three stories of the tower and the last two storeys was added by Firoz Shah Tuglak. Another interesting thing inside the campus of Qutub Minar is the famous Iron Pillar of Delhi which is dated back to the Gupta Dynasty around the 4th century AD. Best part about this tall iron pillar is it has barely rusted for 1700 years and it shows depthness of ancient Indian art.  Pillar has beautiful inscriptions carved onto mostly dedicated to the power and greatness of King Chandragupta the Second.
Third on our list of UNESCO World Heritage site in Delhi is beautiful Humayun’s Tomb, In 1569-70 it was commissioned by his widow Empress Bega Begum and it was designed and planned by Mirak Mirza Ghiyas along with his son Sayyid Muhammad, who gave Indian subcontinent first garden-tomb as Humayun’s Tomb. It houses the tomb of first ruler of Mughal Empire Emperor Humayun and later his first wife Bega Begum here too. Famous Taj Mahal in Agra has a lot of resemblance to Humayun’s Tomb even though Tomb is several decades older than the Taj Mahal.
