Qutub-ud-Din Aibak started its construction in 1192 but only completed the basement, then his successor Iltutmish later constructed three stories of the tower and the last two storeys was added by Firoz Shah Tuglak. Another interesting thing inside the campus of Qutub Minar is the famous Iron Pillar of Delhi which is dated back to the Gupta Dynasty around the 4th century AD. Best part about this tall iron pillar is it has barely rusted for 1700 years and it shows depthness of ancient Indian art.  Pillar has beautiful inscriptions carved onto mostly dedicated to the power and greatness of King Chandragupta the Second.
